Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) has successfully executed a community engagement initiative in a project community in Kaduna State, where the Gidan Iyali housing project is situated. For 5 days, over 70 enthusiastic participants immersed themselves in a transformative journey to foster capacity building, environmental consciousness, economic empowerment, and community engagement.
The initiative is in line with FHFL’s role in job creation, community engagement, and empowerment, complementing its mandate of facilitating affordable housing for Nigerian families.
Capacity Building
Participants were taken through a diverse array of skill sets, ranging from sustainable construction practices to digital literacy. Our expert trainers provided hands-on sessions, ensuring each participant gained practical knowledge and honed valuable skills applicable to construction and related industries.
Environmental Consciousness
In line with FHFL’s commitment to sustainability, the program emphasized eco-friendly practices. From incorporating recycled materials in projects to promoting energy-efficient techniques, participants learned how their skills could contribute to a healthier planet.
Economic Empowerment
The heart of the program lies in empowering individuals with the tools needed for economic independence. Through workshops on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and market trends, participants gained insights to navigate and thrive in today's dynamic job market.
Health and Safety guidelines
Participants received hands-on tips on occupational health and safety practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and emergency response protocols. The participants were provided with safety kits that included hard hats and reflective vests.
Social Responsibility/Responsible Living
Artisans were educated on adopting responsible and ethical behaviour in both personal and professional spheres. The discussion on responsible living touched on salient social issues such as respect for others, drug abuse, mental health, gender violence, and sexual harassment.
Community Engagement
The initiative extended beyond personal growth – it was also about building stronger communities. Participants actively engaged in activities and projects that address local needs, fostering a sense of responsibility and unity. Through such collaborations, FHFL believes that there would be positive ripple effects that extend far beyond the workshop.
Impact Beyond Borders
As we reflect on this enriching experience, we are inspired by the potential ripple effects that these skilled individuals will bring to their communities. It is not just about acquiring skills; it is about creating a network of change agents committed to making a lasting impact.
FHFL applauds the participants for their dedication, enthusiasm, and incredible ideas and projects they crafted during the programme. Their success stories are a testament to the effectiveness of FHFL’s holistic approach to skills acquisition.
Join Us in Building a Better Future
Our commitment to empowerment, environmental stewardship, economic growth, and community well-being continues. Stay tuned for upcoming programmes and events as we work together to build a brighter and more sustainable future.
