Mortgage Banking Stakeholders Engagement Workshop on the Help-To-Own Program

A joint training workshop organized by Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) in collaboration with the Mortgage Bankers Association of Nigeria (MBAN) convened a pivotal stakeholders’ session on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, in Lagos.


The workshop was graced by Mr. Ayo Olowookere, President of MBAN, the Executive Secretary of MBAN , Dr. Adedeji Ajadi and Mrs. Monsurat Muhammed, Head of  HTO Program at FHFL, who delivered keynote training sessions focused on the onboarding of Primary Mortgage Banks (PMBs), mortgage processing, and other critical aspects of affordable housing finance.


The event brought together key industry stakeholders, including senior executives from mortgage institutions across the country. Notable participants included representatives from: Citycode Mortgage Bank, Haggai Mortgage Bank, Homebase Mortgage Bank, AG Mortgage Bank, Imperial Mortgage Bank, FHA Mortgage Bank, Jubilee Mortgage Bank, Adamawa Mortgage Bank, LBIC Mortgage Bank, Livingtrust Mortgage Bank, Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank, Brent Mortgage Bank, and Abbey Mortgage Bank, alongside relevant regulatory and institutional partners.


The workshop served as a strategic platform for knowledge sharing, bonding, and alignment, aimed at strengthening collaboration within the mortgage finance ecosystem. The sessions addressed core industry challenges and highlighted actionable pathways to improve performance and impact in the sector.


Key Issues Discussed:

  • Accessibility to Affordable Housing Funds:
    Participants examined barriers mortgage banks face in accessing housing finance and proposed practical solutions for streamlining disbursement processes to ensure greater efficiency and inclusion.
  • Risk Management and Compliance Controls:
    The forum emphasized the need for stronger internal systems and adherence to regulatory standards to build institutional trust, resilience, and sectoral stability.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    Discussions explored opportunities for enhancing service delivery through digital transformation, workflow simplification, and improved collaboration with key agencies.
  • ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Considerations:
    Stakeholders acknowledged the growing importance of integrating ESG principles into mortgage operations, with a focus on sustainability, social impact, and ethical practices.


The session concluded with a shared commitment from all parties to deepen institutional partnerships, advocate for enabling policies, and collaborate more closely in expanding access to affordable housing for Nigerians.
The engagement reaffirmed FHFL’s role as a catalytic driver of housing delivery and MBAN’s position as a unifying and guiding force for mortgage bankers nationwide. Together, both institutions continue to lead the charge in shaping a more accessible, sustainable, and inclusive housing finance landscape in Nigeria.
