Africa Housing Awards: FHFL bags Housing Intervention Program of the Year, as MD, Femi Adewole joins Affordable Housing Hall of Fame

June 21, 2023

The Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) has been awarded for the Housing Intervention Program of the Year at the 2021 Africa Housing Awards.

The award which took place on Friday, 10th December 2021 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja was a celebration of excellence in Africa’s burgeoning housing sector with a variety of awards and special recognitions for respective stakeholders and organizations.

The award for FHFL was in recognition of the Fund’s affordable housing intervention in Nigeria, especially in the northeast of the country, where it has financed the development of thousands of homes priced not more than N2 million for families on low-income, especially those who were victims of the insurgency in the region that had led to multiple displacement and homelessness.

In Borno, the epicenter of the northeast crisis, the Family Homes Funds has financed the development of at least, 3,200 homes which has also enabled the creation of up to 17,400 direct and indirect jobs and enabling the long journey towards rebuilding these communities.

The MD of Family Homes Funds, Mr. Femi Adewole was also inducted into the Affordable Housing Hall of Fame, which according to the organizers of the ceremony was ‘’…in recognition of his selfless and dedicated service towards the delivery of affordable housing, especially for those at the base of the income pyramid.’’

FHFL is currently working with State Governments and private developers across the country to facilitate the construction of affordable homes for people on a modest income, who can also offtake these homes with financial assistance from FHFL through the Help To Own Programme. The Fund has now completed 5,408 homes across eight states, with 9,148 under construction and another 13,543 taking off soon. These projects have enabled the creation of 64,840 direct and indirect jobs across the country. FHFL is also implementing the Nigeria government’s National Social Housing Programme (NSHP) that will provide up to 300,000 homes and lead to the creation of 1.5 million jobs across the country.
