One sector of the economy that has the potential to provide a significant number of jobs is construction. The construction industry provides jobs for people of varying skill levels – highly skilled, semi-skilled to unskilled workers. At Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL), our goal is to facilitate the creation of 1.5 million direct and indirect jobs by 2024. We have thus far created up to 14,000 jobs from our projects in Asaba, Kano, Kaduna, Ogun, and Nasarawa. Table 1 below provides a snapshot of workers – the different categories, the number and the amount of work they put in on our project site in Ogun, in February 2019. We are not only hiring, but also looking to empower workers on our projects through an upskilling, training, apprenticeship and certification programme. FHFL is therefore pleased to partner with C-STEMP Construction Skills Training and Empowerment Project Ltd, an organisation with a similar drive to train and empower artisans. With this programme, we hope that Nigerians that work on FHFL projects, will leave well skilled and empowered to perform even better on their various projects within their communities and beyond.
