New Board Members Appointed at FHFL

In the morning of 16th September 2019, the Members of the Board of Family Homes Funds were inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning, Mrs Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed. Congratulations to all new members of the board and we look forward to working with you to further the cause of Social Housing in Nigeria.


The new board members are as follows


1.    SuleimanBarau(OON,fcib,fnim)– Chairman


Mr. Suleiman Barauis a distinguishedprofessional with more than 18 years of experience as a Public Servant and 17 years in banking. He has served as the Deputy Governor of the CBN and as the MD of Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Red Star Express Nigeria. He is an Alumnus of the Ahmadu Bello University, The University of Jos, INSEAD, University of Bradford and the Harvard Kennedy School.


 


2.    Femi Adewole – MD/CEO


Mr. Femi Adewole is a housing finance professional and chartered architect with over 25 years experience leading housing initiatives across Sub Sahara Africa and the United Kingdom. Before his appointment as the MD of Family Homes Funds, he was MD of Shelter Afrique.He has also served in some of the largest housing companies around the globe such as First World Communities Ltd, Watford Community Housing Trust, Notting Hill Housing Group, and Lagos HABITAT 2011 Project. Mr Adewole is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School and Warwick Business School.


 


3.    Muhammadu A. Jumba,Amb. (Arc) – Non Executive Director


Amb. Muhammadu Jumbais a Principal Partner at Design & Planning Consultants, Architects and Engineers. He was formerly the Nigerian Ambassador to the State of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. He has also served as the HonourableCommissioner for the Ministry of Works, Housing and Land Development with the Bauchi State Government, and as the Director of Works and Physical Planning Department at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.He is an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.


 


4.    Mohammed R. Umar – Non Executive Director


Mr. Mohammed Umar has over 40 years of experience as a quantity surveyor. He has headed the Quantity Surveying section in the Ministry of Works and Housing and established the Quantity Surveying Section for the Ministry of Housing and Environment, both in Kano, Nigeria. He is currently the Managing Director of MRU Cost Consultants. Mr Umar is a member of Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria and Quantity Surveyors International, and an alumnus of both Eaton College, UK and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.


 


5.    Chiweze.A. Ukwuoma– Non Executive Director


Mr.ChiwezeUkwuomais an experience Corporate and Investment Attorney and a Barrister at law. He worked as a corporate lawyer for 9 years in different banks including Continental Merchant Bank of Nigeria Ltd (formerly Chase), GamjiBank Ltd, and Chase Merchant Bank. He is a Partner in the Law firm of Crux Solicitors and the CEO of Neighbours P&S Ltd, a group involved in Civil Engineering, Commodities Merchandising and Pharmaceuticals. He is an alumnus from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the University of Lagos.


 


6. Aliyu Ahmed – Non Executive Director


Mr. Aliyu Ahmed is Director, International Economic Relations Department, at Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Finance (MoF). Prior to this, Mr. Ahmed has worked under secondment at the World Bank, DC as a Senior Advisor to the Executive Director responsible for Angola, Nigeria and South Africa, as well as at the IFC. Mr. Ahmed has a B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, an MBA from the University of Lagos, both in Nigeria, and a M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK.


 


7. Mr. Uche Orji – Non Executive Director


Mr. Orji is the MD/CEO of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority. He has a wealth of experience in the financial industry. Prior to NSIA, he was MD, Equities Division at UBS Securities, New York branch, and MD, Equities Division in JP Morgan, London. He has also gained experience working at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, London,Diamond Bank Plc., Lagos and Arthur Andersen, Lagos. Mr. Orji has anMBA from Harvard Business School.
