2023 HR Week: Igniting Change and Accountability

August 14, 2023

Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) has held the 2023 edition of the Human Resources (HR) Week featuring transformative team building activities. With diverse backgrounds and talents, the team embarked on a journey of learning, friendship, and self-discovery.

The annual event is a special initiative dedicated to celebrating the organization’s most valuable asset – its people. From Monday 7th August to Friday 11th August 2023, FHFL hosted a series of events and activities aimed at promoting a positive work culture, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the overall well-being of its people. The theme for this year is ‘’Igniting Change and Accountability.’’

Day 1: Keeping People Informed, Inspired and Involved
The week kicked off with an insightful lecture on ‘Driving Change from Within & the Ripple Effect of Accountability’ by the renowned business coach and management consultant, Oluseye Taiwo Adepoju (The Oracle). The engaging and interactive lecture set the stage for a week of growth. Icebreaker games, both physical and mental, helped break down barriers and create connections. The speaker remarkably noted that ‘’beyond measuring Key Performance Indicators, there is also the need to Keep People Informed, Inspired, and Involved.’’

Day 2: Book Reviews
Book reviews took center stage. The selected books for review were ‘Who Moved My Cheese’ by Dr. Spencer Johnson, and ‘The Difference Maker’ by John Maxwell. Each team chose a book that inspired them and presented its key takeaways. The room buzzed with discussions on change, accountability, leadership, resilience, and creativity, sparking new connections among colleagues.

Day 3: Cultural Appreciation
Dressed in vibrant cultural attires, employees celebrated their unique heritage. The office transformed into a global village, with attires representing different cultures. A rich tapestry of stories, music, and food highlighted the beauty of diversity, fostering a deeper understanding among team members.

Day 4: Nourishing and Appreciating Bonds
Healthy living took center stage as an Emergency Medical Officer guided the team towards Selfcare and Managing Emotional Intelligence. Everyone participated by sharing their preferred methods of dealing with stress and anxiety. The shared experience deepened their sense of collaboration and well-being. The special day was also dedicated to expressing gratitude and appreciation to colleagues for their work and dedication. It featured anonymous exchange of heartfelt appreciate notes to one another. There was also a lecture on Anti-fraud and Whistle Blowing.

Day 5: Games of Strategy
The week took a playful turn as teams engaged in strategic games and challenges. Puzzle-solving, painting, tug of war, sack race, and team-building obstacle courses tested their problem-solving skills and unity under pressure. Laughter echoed through the crowd as bonds were strengthened.

Celebration of Achievements
Awards recognized outstanding teamwork, innovation, and dedication. An atmosphere of appreciation filled the room, affirming the collective efforts of the team.

Reflection and Renewal
The week concluded with moments of reflection and goal setting. Employees carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and connection. The blend of lectures, games, cultural appreciation, mental health awareness, and awards had woven a tapestry of unity that would forever shape their shared path forward.
