Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed

Zainab Ahmed was appointed Minister of Finance on September 14, 2018.In this position,her responsibilities include the management and control of Nigeria's public finance,with the specific functions of preparing annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the Federal Government; formulating fiscal policies; mobilizing domestic and external financial resources through both internal and external financial institutions,for development purposes; monitoring government revenue from oil and non-oil resources; supervising the insurance industry, the securities and exchange regulator and other aspects of the financial markets; and managing sub-national public finances in terms of the revenue allocation and distribution to the federating States and Local Governments in Nigeria. She also works closely with leadership of the Central Bank of Nigeria to closely coordinate the fiscal and monetary policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Prior to this, Mrs.Ahmed was Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning responsible for Budget Implementation,Budget Monitoring and Evaluation, Donor Coordination as well as managing the National Social Investment Program, targeted at enhancing social investments in the health and education,as well as supporting Micro,Small, Medium sized enterprises.She was Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Task Team Leading Coordination of the Humanitarian and Development Response in North East Nigeria.

Mrs. Zainab Ahmed is a member of the international board of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), and a Co-Chair of the Open Governance Partnership (OGP). Mrs. Ahmed has served the Nigeria Public Service in various high-ranking positions, which include the Executive Secretary and National Coordinator of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), from 2010 to 2015. Under her leadership, NEITI attained “EITI Compliant Status” in 2011 and Nigeria received the “Best Implementing Country” award in 2013.

Mrs. Zainab Ahmed has also served the Nigeria Public at the sub-national level. She was the Managing Director of the Kaduna Investment Company Ltd from 2009 to 2010. Mrs. Zainab Ahmed was also the Chief Finance Officer of the MTEL from 2002-2009, and rose to the Deputy General Manager at the Nigeria Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTEL).

Mrs. Ahmed graduated with B.Sc. Accounting in the Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria and did her MBA at the Ogun State University, Ago Woye. Nigeria. She is a fellow of many professional bodies like the Association of National Accountants of Nigerian (ANAN) and Institute of Company and Commercial Accountants (ICCA) among many others also a member of several professional bodies like Chartered Institute of Taxation (CITN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM)

As a seasoned accountant, who has served in both the public and private sectors, she brings to bear, in her new role at Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance, her considerable knowledge and experience in financial reporting, public financial management, budget formulation and execution, public sector reform, natural resource accountability, national projects management, as well as macroeconomic, monetary and fiscal policy coordination.

Mr. Uche Orji, CEO/ Managing director
& Chief Executive Officer, NSIA

Mr. Uche Orji is the MD & CEO of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) having been reappointed by the President of Nigeria for another 5-year term. As pioneer CEO, Uche led the operationalization of the NSIA and has been responsible for driving its growth strategy since 2012. Under his leadership, NSIA has become a highly regarded institution, serving as a vehicle for implementing key infrastructure projects and investing Nigeria’s savings.

Prior to joining the NSIA, Uche was an MD in the Equities Division of UBS Securities, New York. Before then, Mr. Orji spent 6 years at JP Morgan Securities, London, rising from the post of VP to MD within the Equities Division. He worked at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, London from 1998-2001. First joining as an Associate, he rose to become an ED before resigning in 2001. Previously, he was the Financial Controller at Diamond Bank Plc., Lagos, Nigeria and had also worked at Arthur Andersen & Co.

Uche has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Massachusetts, USA.

Dr. Bakari Wadinga Ph.D., ACA.

Dr. Bakari Wadinga is the director of revenue and investment in the office of the accountant general of the federation (OAGF). He holds a Ph.D., M.Sc. and a B.sc in economics and an MBA. He has over 30 years working experience in the Accounting and Finance functions.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

Dr. Wadinga started his professional career in 1985 as an auditor trainee with the firm of Peat Marwick Ani and Ogunde & CO. (now KPMG). Between 2000 and 2005, he served as chief accountant with the Ministry of Defense Headquarters Abuja. He worked as the Head of Planning, Reporting and Statistics Department (Federal Inland Revenue service, Headquarters Abuja) between 2005 and 2010. In 2010, he was appointed Deputy Director Finance and Accounts at the National Planning Commission.

He served as the head, Finance and Accounts with the Bureau of Public Service Reforms Abuja between 2011 and 2014. He was subsequently elevated to the position of Director of Accounts between 1st January 2014 and June 2016, before his present appointment as Director of Revenue and Investment in the Office of the Accountant- General of the Federation (OAGF).
Dr. Wadinga has published various articles in the field of Economics, Accounting and Public Finance.

Mr. Femi Adewole, Managing Director

Femi Adewole is a housing finance professional with over 25years experience leading housing initiatives across Sub Sahara Africa and the United Kingdom. Until his appointment, he was Managing Director of Shelter Afrique, the Nairobi-based pan-African housing company.

He has served in various capacities in some of the largest housing companies around the globe such as First World Communities Ltd, Watford Community Housing Trust, Notting Hill Housing Group, and Lagos HABITAT 2011 Project amongst others.

Mr. Adewole, an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School and Warwick Business School is a chartered architect as well as a planning and development professiona l with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
